Mission Statement
The mission of the Bell Memorial Library is to provide patrons of all
ages with a friendly atmosphere for access to varied categories of multimedia
materials and services. Ensuring equal access to electronic resources
to those who lack access is part of the Library's mission.
Purpose
and Disclaimer
The Internet, as an information resource, enables the Library to provide
information beyond the confines of its own collection. Due to the Library's
limited resources, the Internet Access being provided is primarily for
research and information sources. Currently, the Internet is an unregulated
medium. As such, while it offers access to a wealth of material to individuals
of all ages, it also enables access to some material that may be offensive,
disturbing and/or illegal. The Library can not control or monitor the
vast amount of material which may be accessible from Internet sources.
Individual users and/or parents must accept responsibility for determining
the reliability, suitability and appropriateness of Internet content.
Parent of children under 18 are required to sign a parental permission
form allowing Internet access to their child.
Staff Assistance
For many Library staff, traveling the Internet is a new experience.
Others have more experience. In all cases we will be glad to assist you
in accessing the Internet and, as our experience grows, attempt to assist
you in getting to the right place. Library staff can not provide in-depth
training concerning Internet computer jargon or personal computer use.
Because of library scheduling, Internet trained staff may not always be
available.
